I realized, 18 years after abandoning my initial attempt, that I will never write Beeswax from scratch, and I'm perfectly fine with that. However, I still often wished for a version of Lotus Agenda written for modern operating systems. So this February I decided to try working with Claude Code to develop Beeswax. After 4 or 5 starts, I got to a base of code that felt was worth continuing to develop.
There's still a huge amount of work to do, but for the last couple of weeks I've been successfully using Beeswax at both home (Linux) and the office (Windows) to do real work. I've put it out on my public GitHub (Beeswax) mostly so that it's easier to get onto my office laptop. Have a look if you're interested.
Beeswax is a terminal-based information manager inspired by Lotus Agenda. It organizes items into views and categories. to recreate Agenda's flexibility and efficiency in a clutter-free, text-based user interface with optional vi-style key bindings and customizable color themes.
Beeswax is also secreted wax from the underside glands of the bee abdomen; bees mold the wax to form honeycomb.
